Knots in timber are a mark or scar caused by the growth of a branch from the main body of the tree. Tight knots are stable and are a result of a living branch present at harvest. Loose knots are unstable and often fall out of the plank. They are a result of branch that has died or broken away. Oak Door Thresholds

These single piece stick down door thresholds are simple, effective and high quality solutions to finishing the edge of your floor. Whether joining two floors of equal height, removing a height difference, trimming up to tiles or creating a mat well, there is a profile solution available. Two sizes are designed to accommodate floors of either approximately 15mm or 19mm in thickness.

All About - Oak

Oak is a hardwood of the Quercus genus and comes in many different species.

At Weatherbar we only use Prime Grade American White, American Red & European Oak species. Oak is strong, hard and mechanically sound making it the ideal timber for construction materials, flooring and furniture.

All About - Grading

Let's keep it simple. We only use Prime Grade timber.

The best from the most prestigious and reliable suppliers across the globe. Hardwood is never perfect, but ours is close.

Sawdust & Recycling

In an attempt to reduce our carbon footprint and be as environmentally friendly as possible, we collect all of our chippings and sawdust to make in to briquettes.

These briquettes are then sold or used to heat our factory during the winter!

Sustainability: Our Promise

Sadly, we live in a world where the origin of some timber (particularly hardwoods) cannot always be verified. Especially exotic hardwood that comes in to the UK from the Far East, South America & Africa.

Deforestation and the illegal harvesting of timber is a serious issue and should be a concern to everyone as the stewards of our planet. This is the reason we take such a hard stance on the origin of the timber materials we use.

Through the various industrial bodies that are available, we strive to ensure all of the timber we use has been removed from forests and woodland in a responsible and ethical manner. That way we can pass on peace of mind to our customers that everything you buy from us is sustainable and certified.

Fitting Instructions:
Oak Door Threshold Strips (19mm) - 2700, 1800 & 900mm Lengths

Minimal preparation, beautiful finish. Fix & forget philosophy, walk away without worry of having to return to replace or repair our products.

Tools Required

Tools you'll need for the job:

  • Tape Measure
  • Hand saw
  • Rubber mallet
  • High grab adhesive

Take your time, prepare well, measure twice and cut once!

Weatherbar Door Threshold profiles are quick and easy to fit if you follow our method for getting it right first time around. Ensure that your working area is clean from dust and debris, ideally when sticking the profile down the surface needs to be as clean and flat as possible. If you're intending to notch out the profile to sit it within your door jamb, work from one end at a time to avoid any errors in measuring (easily done when taking rebates out).

Method

1.Measure (Twice)

Our initial recommended starting point for any DIY is to ALWAYS measure and measure again. Even the most experienced DIYers and tradespeople make errors at this stage and it's such an easy thing to overlook!

2.Preparation

Start with a clean and debris free substrate floor. This will allow for the high grab adhesive to bond with the floor and profile. Once dust free and you're happy with the position the profile needs to sit, apply a bead of high grab adhesive either to the substrate floor or underside of the profile.

3.Profile Fixing

With the adhesive applied, carefully align your profile to the desired position. Once you're happy it's correct, apply firm downward pressure and keep in place. We'd advise using something heavy to apply downwards pressure whilst the adhesive sets. Be sure to look our for any adhesive that may have squeezed out from underneath the profile.

4.Fixed & Finished

When in place and correctly seated in the base, the profile should be flat and even on both sides against/overlapping the flooring. Take care to remove dust and debris from around the profile to ensure it doesn't get damaged.
