All About - Oak

Oak is a hardwood of the Quercus genus and comes in many different species.

At Weatherbar we only use Prime Grade American White, American Red & European Oak species. Oak is strong, hard and mechanically sound making it the ideal timber for construction materials, flooring and furniture.

All About - Pine

Pine is a softwood from the Pinus genus. Pine is a generic name covering hundreds of sub species which make up the softwood timber family.

At Weatherbar we only use a Prime Grade of pine which minimises the amount of sap, knots and mineral streaks present.

Commercial pines are grown in plantations for timber that is denser and therefore more durable than spruce. Pine is widely used in carpentry for furniture, window frames, panelling, floors and roofing whilst the resin is of value too.

All About - Aluminium

High Grade Aluminium, the perfect metal solution for strength and longevity

Aluminium is an element with the atomic number of 13. Only Oxygen and Silicone are more abundant in the Earth’s crust. Due to its spare spaces in its electron ring, Aluminium is extremely reactive. This means that it is rarely found in its unbound natural state. Instead Al is nearly always found bound to minerals, most commonly occurring in Bauxite (a rock often containing Aluminium, Iron and Titanium). Malleable, anti-corrosive and abundant, Aluminium is perfect for non-structural or weight bearing metal products. We use the highest grade T6063 T6 Aluminium alloyed with Magnesium and Silicone for our products.

Sustainability: Our Promise

Sadly, we live in a world where the origin of some timber (particularly hardwoods) cannot always be verified. Especially exotic hardwood that comes in to the UK from the Far East, South America & Africa.

Deforestation and the illegal harvesting of timber is a serious issue and should be a concern to everyone as the stewards of our planet. This is the reason we take such a hard stance on the origin of the timber materials we use.

Through the various industrial bodies that are available, we strive to ensure all of the timber we use has been removed from forests and woodland in a responsible and ethical manner. That way we can pass on peace of mind to our customers that everything you buy from us is sustainable and certified.
